Whether you call it Vedic astrology, Jyotisha, Hindu horoscopes, or Indian astrology, you’ve probably heard about this ancient science and the power of Indian horoscope readings. It is unclear whether Indian horoscopes were based on Greek astrology, or whether they originated in the subcontinent. But in many parts of the world, Indian horoscopes are taken very seriously, and even taught in some universities.
In fact, in India, marriages and special occasions are often planned according to Hindu horoscopes. Indian horoscope readings are extremely advanced, and they can predict events and offer insights that are often more accurate than western astrology. Indian astrology is complex and covers all aspects of human existence.
Both Western and Indian astrology has 12 zodiac signs. In Indian astrology, the motions of the planets are measured against the fixed position of the stars, and Western astrology uses the movement of the planets measured against the position of the sun. Your Indian sign is determined by your birth date and you can find your Indian horoscope online.
So why should you get an Indian horoscope reading? If you haven’t been satisfied by Western readings, or if you are looking for a different viewpoint, an alternative reading of your future, or if you want to get the wisdom of this ancient science, then book an Indian horoscope reading online now. Get an Indian horoscope consultation that can accurately guide you into the future and give you insights you may not have found in Western astrology.
The Science Behind Indian Horoscopes
Indian and Western astrology measures a 360° circle around Earth and divides this circle into 12 equal parts of 30° each denoting a zodiac sign. The two systems are basically identical with just a shift of the starting point (vernal equinox) on the ecliptic longitude by about 22°. This results in the placement of heavenly bodies in the two systems being different about 80% of the time. The position of constellations and planets in your birth chart determines horoscope predictions. So even the slightest shift in the planets results in a different reading.
Where Did Western Astrology Go Wrong?
When Western astrology was founded in Babylon in about 450 BC, they didn’t take into account the changing direction of Earth’s rotational axis in relation to the fixed stars. This was only discovered centuries later, and the Western system was never updated. But here’s the problem. Earth is on an axis, and also has an extremely slow gyroscopic movement. This affects the tilt of Earth’s axis on the first day of spring (vernal equinox) which is the first day of the zodiac, 0°. The vernal equinox has shifted over the years and so have the positions of the zodiac. But Western astrology continues to use the position of the stars as they were thousands of years ago, while Indian astrology calculates the ever-shifting movement of the celestial bodies.

Do I have an Indian Zodiac Sign?
Indian horoscopes are calculated by tracking the position of a constellation, then deducting 23° to compensate for the angle tilt of the Earth’s axis. This translates as a 23-day gap between Indian and Western signs. So your birth date may fall in one zodiac sign in Western astrology, and in another in Indian astrology. If you’ve ever wondered why you don’t quite fit with the typical traits of your sign, then it’s possible you’re not even that sign! Some birth dates do end up in the same zodiac zone in both Indian and Western astrology, but they may give you a different interpretation, as the systems focus on different aspects of your personality. Everyone has a Western and Indian zodiac sign and can get a horoscope reading for both.
How The Moon Is Represented In Indian Astrology?
The moon is represented in Indian astrology at the centre of the ancient system. It governs the mind and emotions when it comes to a daily horoscope and according to astrology, the moon sign governs all of the events linked to the other planets. Western astrology tells us that there are no links to the moon and the way the planets are linked to a horoscope. This is how it differs and the moon has a significant importance when it comes to Vedic astrology.
What Is Rashi Or A Zodiac Star Sign?
So we understand the moon is at the centre of your zodiac sign and depending on your date of birth and where the moon was at your place of birth, this is what we call the moon sign. The astrological signs are made up of 12 Rashi of each 30 degrees of arc.
Like the moon sign, depending on where the sun was placed at your time of birth is known as the sun sign. Vedic astrology tells us that a Rashi or a zodiac sign tells us the positioning of the moon, In turn, the moon is the most significant and most important indicator within Indian astrology. This is how we can gather the reading through your birth chart signs.
