Tarot Cards are one of the most exciting and popular features of astrology.
‘Tarot’ was originally called ‘Trionfi’, which later became known as ‘Tarocchi’, then ‘Tarock,’ and finally ‘Tarot’.
The History of the Tarot shows that the cards were first used in the 15th Century in various parts of Europe, and were often used as card games, especially in Italian ‘Tarocchini’ and in French Tarot. It was in the 18th century that the cards started to be used by mystics and mediums who were interested in the spiritual world.
In the divinatory , esoteric and occult world, the cards pictures and interpretations were believed to be able to tell a lot about someones past, present and future lives. The occult tarot decks, used by spiritual advisers, mediums and psychics contain both the Major and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards including :
Major Arcana –
The Fool, The Hanged Man, Death, The Devil, The Magician, The Sun, The World, The Lovers, The Star, Judgement, The Empress, The Emperor, The Tower, The High Priestess, The Moon, The Chariot, The Hermit, The Wheel of Fortune, The Hierophant, Strength, Temperance and Justice.
Minor Arcana –
The Minor Acrana consists of 56 cards and then further divided into four suits. Swords, Pentacles or Coins, Wands and Cups.
